Each level requires four beams, with double rivet beams used on the top and bottom levels of all units and single rivet beams on all intermediate levels; capacity can be increased by using double rivet beams on all levels. A sample heavy duty 5-shelf 48" x 24" unit includes 6 single rivet beams of 48" and 6 single rivet beams of 24", 4 uprights, and 4 double rivet beams of 48" and 24". An extra heavy duty 5-shelf 48" x 24" unit includes 4 uprights and 10 double rivet beams each of 48" and 24". Beams can be used as ledges at any required height to prevent merchandise from falling or rolling off shelves. The actual length of the beams is 47.25".
