The two-motor design features one motor inside and one outside, allowing the indoor motor to operate at slower speeds that significantly reduce indoor sound levels. Both motors are permanently lubricated for quieter operation and enhanced durability. The 3-speed fan, suitable for both cooling and heating modes, has nearly five times the surface area of a typical PTAC fan, ensuring more uniform airflow over a wider path for quicker and quieter air distribution. This system provides guests and residents with increased comfort options, while the soft start/stop fan delay minimizes transitional noise associated with compressor start-up. Energy efficiency is achieved with models boasting EERs of up to 12.0 and COPs of up to 3.4, as separate thermostat limits for cooling and heating offer greater temperature control. Centralized desk control and compatibility with energy management systems help to enhance efficiency and reduce operational costs. Installation is simplified with a universal heater/power cord, allowing installers to adjust heat output by changing the standard power cord to the appropriate size; the optional cords connect easily, similar to a phone jack, enabling distributors to maintain fewer PTAC models and optional power cords. It is important to note that all wiring and building connections must be properly sized for the power cord, and wall sleeves and wall sleeve grilles are sold separately.
