Pedestals enable many types of enclosures and boxes to be floor mounted, featuring four columns and two available bases. The columns can be mounted on either base, utilizing either the vertical column or directly to the enclosure, although a cutout must be made in the enclosure for wire passage through the column. Each column is constructed from 14 gauge steel with 10 gauge flanges and includes flanges at each end along with a gasketed access plate. Each column comes with screws, oil-resistant gaskets, and a box connector fitting for secure joining of an enclosure to the top of the column. The bases measure 18.00 x 18.00 in. (457 x 457 mm) and are constructed from .19-in. (5-mm) steel, while the larger base measures 24.00 x 24.00 in. (610 x 610 mm) and is made from .25-in. (6-mm) steel. Both bases include leveling screws and holes for bolting to the floor, and feature a finish of ANSI 61 gray polyester powder coating over pretreated surfaces. It is important to note that bases and columns must be ordered separately, and users typically remove the mounting brackets from the enclosure when it is mounted on a pedestal; Hoffman can provide enclosures without mounting brackets and with cutouts, and it is advisable to consult the factory for further information.
