The Hoffman A36D3012 enclosure is a NEMA Type 9 unit measuring 36.00 x 30.00 x 12.00 inches, constructed from steel with a gray finish, designed for use in Class II Division 1 and 2 locations as defined in Article 500 of the National Electrical Code where combustible dusts are present. It features a 0.19-inch (5-mm), 0.25-inch (6-mm), and 0.38-inch (10-mm) thick steel plate, with ends made of 0.38-inch (10-mm) steel plate to ensure a minimum of 3.50 full threads for conduit sizes up to 2.00 inches (51 mm), in compliance with NEMA requirements that conduit entrances be located at the top and/or bottom of the enclosure. The enclosure is equipped with 0.25-inch (6-mm) thick covers that facilitate the mounting of NEMA 9 pushbuttons and pilot lights, which require threaded holes with a 3/4-14 NPSM thread. Heavy-duty cover hinges are included for enclosures when the depth is 20.00 inches (508 mm) or more, while a fiber gasket that is mechanically attached to the cover ensures a dust-tight seal. Additionally, weldnuts or collar studs are provided for the mounting of an optional panel.
