The keyboard compartment is a self-contained, sealed module designed to mount to an accessory front opening, featuring a lockable die-cast aluminum door that is hinged along the bottom edge and equipped with pushbutton latches. It includes a PC keyboard resting on a ball-bearing glide shelf with a soft palm-rest, while the PKBC6R variant provides a tray for the mouse that slides out from beneath the shelf. A seamless foam-in-place gasket on the door ensures a dust-tight seal, and the door locks in position under the extended shelf to secure it when open. Additionally, a hole and grommet in the rear of the compartment facilitate keyboard cable access into the enclosure. The compartment is finished with RAL 7035 textured light-gray polyester powder paint, while the door is finished with RAL 9005 textured black polyester powder paint.
