3M™ Scotch-Brite™ SE Aluminum Oxide Surface Conditioning Belt measures 1/2" x 18" and is designed for medium grit applications such as blending corners, cleaning, contour finishing, deburring, fine finishing, flat finishing, setting the grain, and stainless steel finishing. It is suitable for use in metalworking industries and is built to resist wear and sharp edges during cleaning, blending, deburring, and finishing on various metal types. The belt is constructed of resin-reinforced non-woven fiber, which helps resist loading and avoids under-cutting or gouging of the workpiece. It exhibits high initial and extended rates of cut while maintaining superior edge durability and is suitable for low stretch applications. The inclusion of a woven fabric (scrim) within the nylon structure enhances strength and durability for edge work and efficient blending. The belt utilizes coarse grade aluminum oxide abrasive, known for its exceptional cut-rate and long life, and is a tough, durable mineral that self-fractures to maintain fresh cutting edges during use. Aluminum oxide is effective on a wide variety of substrates in both woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys, making it ideal for rapid grinding, sanding, and finishing.
