Brass nipples are produced from seamless red brass pipe, specifically alloy 230. This type of brass is easier to machine, less brittle to work with, and provides superior resistance to corrosion compared to yellow brass, as it will not dezincify. Brass offers good corrosion resistance against water and heat, and it is also resistant to attack from salt water, acids, minerals, and peaty soils contained in water. Primarily utilized for water in commercial plumbing and OEM applications, brass nipples can also be applied in oil, gas, and steam applications.
