The columns of a facility play a crucial role in supporting the weight of the structure, which is referred to as a vertical load. However, impacts at the lower parts of the columns can compromise their ability to bear these loads, potentially leading to costly repairs, downtime, or even a roof or building collapse. Ideal Warehouse's column guard offers a solution by effectively preventing impacts from forklifts, pallet trucks, and other warehouse vehicles. Unlike traditional column protection methods that only absorb some impact shock, this guard is specifically designed to prevent impact altogether. It stands 8 inches high and is constructed from 3/16-inch thick steel with 3/8-inch gussets made of high-strength cold rolled steel, capable of halting a 10,000 lb forklift traveling at 3 to 4 mph. The safety yellow powder coat finish enhances visibility, and the column guards are sold in quarters, allowing for flexible installation around racking corners or column obstructions.
