GN 742 fill/drain plugs are designed with an outside diameter D1 to fit screw holes featuring BSP threads as specified in DIN 3852. The seal is secured in a groove undercut in the mating face, preventing it from falling out or extruding when the plug is tightened, allowing for the use of softer materials that offer improved sealing capabilities. The maximum heat resistance of the plugs is 180°C (356°F), and they include a 2mm vent hole along with an M5 x 0.8 dipstick thread.
