Durable maintenance and inspection tags are designed to inform employees that equipment has been inspected and is safe and in good condition. The tags are made from B-851 rigid economy polyester and feature brass grommets, which exceed OSHA's 50 lb pull force requirement for tagout devices. They include a textured write-on surface that allows for authorized signatures, dates, and other special instructions. These tags comply with OSHA standard 1910.145 for accident prevention. The sign legend reads: "Instructions attach this tag to fire extinguisher." Recharging and maintenance records are to be entered by the person performing such tasks. The inspection and maintenance check intervals are specified for various types of fire extinguishers: water types require monthly inspections and yearly maintenance checks; foam types also require monthly inspections and yearly maintenance checks; carbon dioxide types need monthly inspections and yearly maintenance checks; dry powder types follow the same schedule. These intervals may be shortened based on specific situational needs. Each tag includes spaces for the recharge record date and the name of the person completing the checks.
