The lockout device is designed to prevent gate valve handles from being turned without authority, featuring a hinged clamshell housing that fully encloses the valve handle to deter unauthorized access. Constructed from tough plastic in a bright hazard red color, it includes a shackle hole for securing with a padlock (sold separately) and incorporates a unique pry guard that prevents the insertion of a screwdriver between the halves, ensuring security. The center thinner area allows for easy drilling through and attachment on rising stem gate valves. The kit includes a safety label with red diagonal hazard stripes and space to write in pertinent lockout information, while the red octagon shape reinforces lockout status and conveys a stop signal. This lockout device meets the device needs in accordance with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.147, and is suitable for valve handle sizes ranging from 1" to 2 1/2".
