The tissue culture treated surface of the plates enhances cell adhesion, with each plate labeled using alpha-numeric markings for straightforward identification of individual wells. Each well features a raised rim that nests into the rings of the single-direction lid, effectively reducing evaporation and minimizing the risk of cross-contamination. The lids include a stacking feature for improved stability when managing tall stacks of plates. The 1 well plate maintains the same footprint as standard multiple well plates, making it beneficial for high volume and robotic screening of DNA libraries as well as manual plating; it is also appropriate for dot-blotting bacterial clones on 11.4 x 7.3 cm (4.5 x 2.875 in) nylon membranes. The 4 well plate offers a smaller footprint while providing a well size comparable to that of a 24 well plate, featuring expanded well spacing to further reduce cross-contamination. The 384 well plates are optimized for automated applications, colorimetric assays, compound storage, or small volume applications.
