The tissue culture treated surface of the plates enhances cell adhesion, with each plate labeled with alpha-numeric markings for easy identification of individual wells. Each well features a raised rim that nests into rings on the single direction lid, effectively reducing evaporation and minimizing the risk of cross-contamination. The lids are designed with a stacking feature for added stability when handling tall stacks of plates. The 1 well plate maintains the same footprint as standard multiple well plates, making it suitable for high volume and robotic screening of DNA libraries as well as manual plating; it is also compatible with dot-blotting bacterial clones on 11.4 x 7.3 cm (4.5 x 2.875 in) nylon membranes. The 4 well plate serves as a smaller footprint option, providing a well size similar to a 24 well plate while offering expanded well spacing to further minimize cross-contamination. The 384 well plates are optimized for automated applications, colorimetric assays, compound storage, and small volume applications.
