Each well is equipped with a raised rim that nests into the rings of the single direction lid, effectively reducing evaporation and minimizing the risk of cross-contamination. The lids also incorporate a stacking feature, ensuring added stability when handling multiple plates. The 1 well plate has a footprint comparable to standard multiple well plates, making it suitable for high-volume and robotic screening of DNA libraries, as well as manual plating; it is also apt for dot-blotting bacterial clones on 11.4 x 7.3 cm (4.5 x 2.875 in) nylon membranes. The 4 well plate serves as a smaller footprint alternative with well sizes akin to a 24 well plate, providing expanded spacing to further prevent cross-contamination. Additionally, the 384 well plates are optimized for automated applications, colorimetric assays, compound storage, or small volume uses.
