Permeable cell culture inserts are designed to replicate in vivo conditions by centering in wells, preventing the membrane from contacting the sides and wicking between the insert and the side wall. The membrane is suspended above the well bottom, facilitating co-culture by allowing one cell line to grow inside the insert while another line grows below in the well. These inserts are ideal for various applications such as drug transfer assays, transport studies, migration assays, and cell-cell interaction studies. Researchers can easily transfer cultures to fresh media by moving the insert to a new plate. The inserts feature pore sizes of 0.4 µm, which are optimal for co-culture and drug transport studies, while 3.0 µm and 8.0 µm pore sizes are suited for angiogenesis and chemotaxis experiments. Non-treated plates are sold separately, and the carrier plate is tissue culture treated to enhance cell adhesion.
