The permeable cell culture inserts are designed to mimic in vivo conditions, featuring an innovative design that centers the inserts in the wells to prevent the membrane from touching the sides and wicking between the insert and side wall. The membrane remains suspended above the well bottom, allowing for co-culture, where one cell line can be grown inside the insert while another line is grown below in the well. These inserts are ideal for various applications including drug transfer assays, transport studies, migration assays, and cell-cell interaction studies. Cultures can be easily transferred to fresh media by moving the insert to a new plate. The inserts are available with a 0.4 μm pore size, which is suitable for co-culture and drug transport studies, as well as 3.0 μm and 8.0 μm pore sizes that are optimal for angiogenesis and chemotaxis experiments. It is important to note that non-treated plates are sold separately; the carrier plate is tissue culture treated to encourage cell adhesion.
