Permeable cell culture inserts are designed to mimic in vivo conditions, featuring an innovative design that centers the inserts in wells to prevent the membrane from touching the sides and wicking between the insert and the side wall. The membrane remains suspended above the well bottom, facilitating co-culture by allowing one cell line to grow inside the insert while another grows below in the well. This setup is ideal for applications such as drug transfer assays, transport studies, migration assays, and cell-cell interaction studies. Cultures can be transferred to fresh media effortlessly by moving the insert to a new plate. The inserts come with a 0.4 µm pore size, which is optimal for co-culture and drug transport studies, while additional pore sizes of 3.0 µm and 8.0 µm are suitable for angiogenesis and chemotaxis experiments, respectively. Non-treated plates are sold separately, whereas the carrier plate is tissue culture treated to encourage cell adhesion.
