Permeable cell culture inserts are designed to closely mimic in vivo conditions by centering in wells to prevent the membrane from touching the sides and wicking between the insert and the side wall. The membrane remains suspended above the well bottom, facilitating co-culture by allowing one cell line to grow inside the insert and another below in the well. These inserts are ideal for drug transfer assays, transport studies, migration assays, and cell-cell interaction studies. Cultures can be transferred to fresh media by simply moving the insert to a new plate. The inserts feature a 0.4 µm pore size suitable for co-culture and drug transport studies, while 3.0 µm and 8.0 µm pore sizes are recommended for angiogenesis and chemotaxis experiments. Non-treated plates are sold separately, and the carrier plate is tissue culture treated to encourage cell adhesion.
