Silcon® Med-X tubing is a platinum cured medical grade silicone tubing that is manufactured under stringent good manufacturing procedures, ensuring compliance with the biocompatibility requirements of USP Class VI. This tubing features unique surface properties that resist sticking and encrustation, while preventing bacteria growth. Soft and pliable, Silcon Med-X contains no plasticizers, which eliminates the risk of leaching that could cause flow contamination or tube hardening. It is important to note that Silcon Med-X is not suitable for implantable or in-body uses, nor for continuous steam applications. Care should be taken when selecting fittings and clamps, as sharp barbed fittings or unlined metal clamps may damage the tubing. Exposure to repeated steam sterilization or prolonged high temperature or pressure can cause the silicone to relax and become gummy over time, necessitating replacement. The tubing is delivered in individual, heat-sealed polybags and requires sterilization prior to use. Suitable applications for Silcon Med-X tubing include biomedical uses, blood and fluid handling, dialysis, food and beverage, health and beauty, IV administration, laboratory uses, personal care, pharmaceutical processing, and surgical feeds and drains.
