Kimble® Kimax® Petri dishes are shallow glass dishes designed for culturing bacteria and other general laboratory applications, meeting federal specification NNN-D-1478. These dishes maintain clarity even after repeated wet or dry sterilization cycles. They feature reinforced beaded edges that resist mechanical breakage and assist in centering the bottom inside the cover. Each cover includes a fused-on bright red ceramic enamel marking spot and inscription stating "cover," while the bottoms have a white ceramic enamel inscription indicating "bottom." The combination of different colors and wording allows for quick and easy identification of parts during sorting, selecting, and assembling pairs. Additionally, the bottom is marked with a vertical arrow on the side to accurately locate serial dilution starting points. These Petri dishes are manufactured from 33 expansion, low extractable borosilicate glass that conforms to USP Type I and ASTM E438, Type I, Class A requirements.
