The Wheaton® 20 mm stopper, Igloo, Ultra Pure, is a siliconized stopper made from an ultra pure bromobutyl formulation that exhibits extremely high chemical purity and low gas permeability. This stopper is free of latex, nitrosamines, and 2-MCBT (2-mercaptobenzothiazole), making it compatible with applications such as water for injection (WFI), where rubber extractables can be problematic. It complies with US, European, and Japanese pharmacopeias and is available in 2-leg, 3-leg, and Igloo styles. The stopper demonstrates a very low level of moisture adsorption and minimal adsorption of preservatives present in aqueous parenteral solutions. Additionally, it is autoclavable, ensuring its suitability for sterilization processes.
