Kimble® KIMAX® borosilicate Petri dishes are shallow glass dishes designed for culturing bacteria and other general laboratory applications. These dishes meet federal specification NNN-D-1478 and remain clear after repeated use in wet or dry sterilization cycles. They feature reinforced beaded edges that resist mechanical breakage and facilitate proper centering of the bottom inside the cover. The covers include a fused-on bright red ceramic enamel marking spot and inscription indicating "COVER," while the bottoms are marked with a white ceramic enamel inscription that reads "BOTTOM." This color coding allows for quick and easy identification of parts during sorting, selection, and assembly. Additionally, the bottom of the dish has a vertical arrow marked on the side for precise location of serial dilution starting points. They are manufactured from 33 expansion, low extractable borosilicate glass, conforming to USP Type I and ASTM E438, Type I, Class A requirements.
