Kimble® KIMAX® borosilicate Petri dishes are shallow glass dishes used for culturing bacteria and other general laboratory purposes. Designed to meet Federal Specification NNN-D-1478, these dishes remain clear after repeated use in wet or dry sterilization cycles. They feature reinforced beaded edges that resist mechanical breakage and assist in centering the bottom inside the cover. Each cover includes a fused-on bright red ceramic enamel marking spot and inscription marked "COVER," while the bottoms display a white ceramic enamel inscription marked "BOTTOM." This combination of colors and wording allows for quick and easy identification of the parts during sorting, selection, and assembly of pairs. Additionally, the bottom features a vertical arrow on the side to accurately locate serial dilution starting points. The dishes are manufactured from 33 expansion, low extractable borosilicate glass, conforming to USP Type I and ASTM E438, Type I, Class A requirements.
