Product Details
Achieve perfect beer brewing and wine making results with Durac triple scale beer and wine hydrometers, which include three scales: specific gravity, potential alcohol by volume (PAV), and Brix, providing invaluable data points for crafting beer, wine, kombucha, mead, cider, and more in both commercial and home brew settings. This hydrometer allows users to determine if starting mash or wort is of acceptable quality to achieve desired results, monitor the fermentation process to see if adjustments are necessary, ascertain when fermentation is complete, and calculate approximate alcohol content of the finished product. It is manufactured in strict accordance with NIST as per NBS Circular 555, Military STD-45662A, and ISO 17025 where applicable, while meeting or exceeding the tolerances of accuracy and physical specifications established by NIST Circular 55, American Society of Testing Materials E100-10, or the American Petroleum Institute. The hydrometers are lead and mercury free. Available in three styles: Shatterproof (B61800-6100) features an all plastic design that eliminates contamination risks due to breakage while providing an easy-to-read flat surface; Polycarbonate (B61800-6000) offers optical quality polycarbonate for glass-like clarity and shatterproof strength, along with color-coded bands indicating when fermentation is complete; Glass (B61807-7100) provides a standard glass design for budget-friendly fermentation monitoring, also with color-coded bands for easy reading. All scales are designed to be read with liquids at 68°F (20°C), and a conversion chart is included for temperature adjustments. For accurate results, it is recommended to use the hydrometer in conjunction with a thermometer (sold separately) and test in hydrometer jar H17817-0000 (sold separately).
