Product Details
Achieve perfect beer brewing and wine making results with Durac triple scale beer and wine hydrometers, which include three scales: specific gravity, potential alcohol by volume (PAV), and Brix, providing invaluable data points for crafting beer, wine, kombucha, mead, cider, and more in both commercial and home brew settings. These hydrometers enable users to determine if the starting mash or wort is of acceptable quality, monitor the fermentation process to identify necessary variable adjustments, ascertain when fermentation is complete, and calculate the approximate alcohol content of the finished product. Manufactured in strict accordance with NIST guidelines outlined in NBS Circular 555, Military STD-45662A, and ISO 17025 where applicable, they meet or exceed the accuracy and physical specifications set by the NIST Circular 55, American Society of Testing Materials E100-10, and the American Petroleum Institute. The hydrometers are lead and mercury free and are available in three styles: Shatterproof (B61800-6100) features an all-plastic design with shatterproof construction to eliminate contamination risks; Polycarbonate (B61800-6000) offers optical quality polycarbonate for glass-like clarity and includes color-coded bands indicating when fermentation is complete; and Glass (B61807-7100) provides a standard glass design for cost-effective fermentation monitoring, also featuring color-coded bands. All scales are designed for use with liquids at 68°F (20°C), and a conversion chart for varying temperatures is included. For accurate results, the hydrometer should be used with a thermometer, which is sold separately, and testing is recommended in the hydrometer jar H17817-0000, also sold separately.
