The CrashGard® sand barrel system is a non-directive, gating sand barrel or crash cushion that includes three MASH-compliant components: barrel, lid, and insert. This system is designed to protect drivers from fixed objects such as concrete barriers, bridge abutments, and lighting fixtures. The kit contains 5 units, which includes 5 barrels, 5 lids, and 5 inserts. Each CrashGard® sand barrel accommodates various weight requirements, specifically 200, 400, 700, 1400, and 2100 pounds. An insert is required for weights of 200, 400, 700, and 1400 lbs, while no insert is needed for 2100 lbs. The barrels are blow-molded from high-molecular, high-density polyethylene plastic (HLMI/HDPE) to ensure maximum strength and durability. Additionally, UV stabilizers are incorporated to enhance product longevity, and color-stable pigments are used to resist fading. The design facilitates easy transport, with a squared bottom that allows for forklift use and a tiered top that is compatible with the CrashGard® hoist. The barrels also nest easily, providing convenient storage.
