The Triplett 3388 Fox & Hound Hotwire is a live circuit tracing kit designed for both 120VAC and 220VAC circuits. It includes the Fox Hotwire tone generator and the Hound Hotwire inductive amplifier, which are essential for effective tracing. The Fox Hotwire operates on a 9-volt battery for low voltage tracing or can be powered by the high voltage line being toned. It features multiple tone generation options (pulse or warble), visual and audible continuity testing, and integrates True Trace and Triplatch tests, with overload protection up to 250 VAC. The Hound Hotwire is a battery-operated, lightweight handheld probe that includes a thumbwheel sensitivity control, a signal strength indicator LED, built-in LED headlights for low-light conditions, a bandpass filter to suppress unwanted frequencies, an earphone jack, and an easy-access battery cover. It is capable of tracing powered or unpowered wires, including telephone and cable TV wires, LAN cables, and security system wires. The TrueTrace feature allows the Hotwire's RF signal to penetrate various building materials and most metal conduits, and it can trace shallow underground wires up to 6 inches deep. The kit comes complete with test leads (24" and 60"), flat blades, pointed probes, alligator clips, and a hard carrying case. Two 9V batteries are required but are not included. It also includes a 1-year warranty.
