Dynarex's Dynaguard waterproof dressing is a sterile, multi-layered foam dressing designed to provide a warm, moist healing environment for wounds. This dressing features a waterproof top layer that serves as a bacterial barrier, effectively protecting the wound from external liquids that could lead to infection. The dressing includes an inner foam layer that absorbs drainage, a low-adherent contact layer, and an adhesive non-woven fabric border, which work together to protect the wound bed while being gentle on the skin. It can be utilized as either a primary or secondary dressing for treating acute or chronic wounds such as pressure sores, leg ulcers, and withdrawn I.V. sites, specifically for partial to full thickness wounds at stages 2, 3, and 4. The dressing is composed of polyurethanes film with a thickness of 0.015 mm (transparent), medical non-woven fabric, absorbent cotton pad, medical pressure-sensitive adhesive (acrylic adhesive), and glassine paper. It features a combination of alginate and silver ions, transforming into a fibrous gel upon contact with wound exudate. The four-layer construction consists of a low-adherent contact layer, absorbent pad, semi-occlusive barrier film, and a conformable, adhesive non-woven fabric border, ensuring that the dressing effectively manages moderate-exuding wounds while providing a moist healing environment and protection from outside contaminants.
