The AirSpade® 5000 Utility Series is designed for air excavation applications, featuring an in-line style handle that allows for vertical operation. This tool utilizes a high-performance, proprietary AirSpade® supersonic nozzle made from non-sparking bronze, which produces a laser-like air jet that reaches twice the speed of sound, facilitating more effective digging. The rugged, lightweight aluminum handle accommodates linesman's gloves with its full-size grip opening, while the comfortable plastic grip provides thermal protection and some electrical insulation. Safety features include a dead-man trigger to ensure safe operation and a trigger guard to prevent accidental activation, as well as an integral pressure gauge for optimal digging performance. The kit includes a 3/4'' NPT compressed air inlet with a swivel-type universal coupler, a screw-on, electrically insulated fiberglass barrel rated to 300kV to protect operators from high-voltage utility lines, and brass barrel sleeves and connectors to minimize sparking. An adjustable rubber dirt shield deflects soil and debris, and a detachable auxiliary handle is also provided. The package includes one AS 5000 handle with swivel-type universal coupler, one 300kV rated insulated 4 ft. fiberglass barrel with dirt shield, one 105 CFM non-sparking bronze supersonic nozzle, one detachable auxiliary handle, and one operations manual.
