Hallowell® Hi-Tech® starter unit metal shelving is engineered for rapid assembly and installation, available in both open and closed styles with varying duty levels—medium, heavy, and extra heavy—to suit specific shelving capacity needs. The adjustable medium-duty shelves are designed with two ribs along the horizontal front and rear edges, stamped in the top left corner for identification. Class 0 shelves are constructed from cold rolled sheet steel with roll-formed rectangular tubular front and rear edges, featuring return bends that are resistance welded to the underside for enhanced strength. The weld spacing is 3" on center to maximize durability, while the sides are triple flanged to create a channel. Each of the four corners is lapped and resistance welded to ensure a rigid structure and additional support. The top surface is pre-punched for attaching shelf dividers at 1-1/2" centers across the front and back for 36" wide shelves with depths of 12", 15", 18", and 24", whereas other sizes are punched on 3" centers. Both front and rear surfaces are also punched for attaching accessories, and the tubular front edge is specifically designed to withstand impact loads, accommodating uniformly distributed loads up to 400 pounds.
