The Alcove or KCV series cove heater is designed to provide warmth from above, offering a space-saving radiant heating solution that also generates convection heat by warming the air in a manner similar to baseboard heaters. This combination allows for quick comfort from radiant heat alongside the sustained warmth of convection heat, resulting in uniform air distribution throughout the room. The heater is mounted near the ceiling, preventing furniture placement issues. It features lower surface temperatures compared to baseboard or fan heaters, providing a pleasant heating experience reminiscent of older ceiling cable systems. The heater operates silently and requires no maintenance due to the absence of moving parts, making it ideal for use in day care centers, assisted living housing, housing developments, laundry rooms, bathrooms, and bedrooms. Key features include a long life heating element, an extruded aluminum front panel, dual wiring options at both ends, easy surface-mount installation, and an open-back design for enhanced convection. Constructed from extruded aluminum with a maximum cross-section thickness of .962 inches and a sawtooth profile to maximize radiating surface area, the heater is open on the top and bottom for optimal convection heating of room air. It comes with 32 cubic inch junction boxes at both ends, equipped with 1/2-inch knockouts on the back and top. The ni-chrome wire is embedded in magnesium oxide powder and sealed within an aluminum sheath, featuring an element wattage density of approximately 150 watts per linear foot. The full-length back case is made of 22 gauge electro-galvanized steel finished with baked enamel.
