Silicon bronze split lock washers are manufactured with a trapezoidal cross section that deflects under load and can be used with or without a silicon bronze flat washer. These washers provide marginal resistance to vibration loosening and are ideal in applications where fasteners have a tendency to rotate or lose friction. They are particularly suitable for highly corrosive environments or marine applications and are covered by ASME B18.21.1. Special features include toleration of extreme temperatures, being harder than brass, and offering corrosion resistance. They are versatile for general-purpose use.
