Lag screws are heavy-duty fasteners designed for connecting heavy lumber or other materials that bear strenuous loads. Manufactured from low carbon steel, they can be used with lag shields in a variety of masonry applications, including concrete, brick, and mortar. Lag screws are ideal where standard wood screws are insufficient in length or size. In some cases, a pilot hole may be pre-drilled to prevent splitting or snapping during installation. They comply with ASME B18.2.1, which outlines the requirements for steel lag screws.
