Merit 316 stainless steel class 300 slip-on flange 2-1/2" female slip-on flanges are utilized in lieu of weld neck flanges whenever cost or space is a major concern. These flanges are bored slightly larger than the pipe OD, allowing the flange to slip over the pipe, which is then lined up and welded into place.
