Bomb suppression blankets, also known as anti-explosive blankets, are essential for minimizing the impact of detonated explosive devices, specifically designed for use over EOD and IEDD devices in public and combat situations. The EDI-USA bomb suppression blanket features durable nylon construction for extended use and includes carry handles and straps for ease of handling. It is designed to securely stake into the ground, maintaining the position of suspicious explosive items during operations. The blanket is tested to Level III-A (ambient) ballistic standards and STANAG 2920 (V50) fragmentation, providing protection against NIJ Level III-A threats and resisting up to 70g of TNT. A unique aspect of this blanket is its inner and outer safety circles (ballistic fences) that help encircle the suspicious package, preventing contact with the blanket during suppression. The relief vent, measuring 13 inches in diameter, is strategically placed in the middle and is covered by the blanket's fabric, allowing for the upward propulsion of energy in the event of an explosion. This lightweight and portable blanket effectively suppresses blasts and fragmentation impacts from threats such as improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and allows for the isolation of a package until bomb squad intervention is possible. EDI-USA offers the bomb blanket with two different internal compositions of tightly compressed ballistic materials for the user’s selection.
