Super Ni-Cast 99% Nickel special welding electrodes feature a non-conductive coating that is ideally suited for welding all grades of gray cast iron, particularly thin sections and welds requiring the highest possible machinability. Typical applications include automotive engine blocks, transmission, and pump housings. The electrodes have a hardness of Rockwell B 82-84, Brinell 155, and Vickers 14. They are recommended for DC reverse (+) or AC polarity and come in a diameter of 1/8" and a length of 14". Each electrode weighs 1 lbs. (0.453 kg) and exhibits a tensile strength of 55,000 PSI (380 MPA) and a yield strength of 38,000 PSI (270 MPA). The recommended amperage range is 80-120. They can be used in various welding positions including flat, vertical up, vertical down, horizontal, and overhead, and the welding technique suggests maintaining a close arc gap and moving rapidly in the direction of travel, with the ability to weld slag over without removal.
