The workhorse of abrasives, aluminum oxide is commonly used on soft and hard woods, nonferrous metals such as aluminum, and certain steels, while zirconium oxide boasts high heat resistance, suitable for high-pressure grinding and machining applications, making it essential in steel fabrication shops. Zirconium effectively handles stainless and tool steels, nickel alloy, aluminum, titanium, cast iron, and carbon steel. The kit includes 36-grit and 50-grit aluminum oxide belts, along with a 180-grit zirconium belt, ensuring optimal performance. It is advisable to keep a supply of extra belts on hand, as worn, torn, or scratched belts can significantly impact the quality of results.
