DuPont™ Tyvek® 400 SFR garments are lightweight, disposable secondary flame-resistant over garments designed to protect and preserve primary flame-resistant garments while balancing protection, durability, and comfort. In the event of a flash fire, Tyvek® 400 SFR garments will not ignite and will not contribute to additional burn injury when appropriate primary flame-resistant personal protective equipment, such as DuPont™ Nomex®, is worn underneath. Made from flash spun high density polyethylene breathable nonwoven Tyvek® fabric that has been flame-retardant treated, Tyvek® 400 SFR garments provide an inherent barrier against particles as small as 1.0 micron. Compared to traditional disposable secondary flame-resistant garments, Tyvek® 400 SFR represents a new generation, offering superior particle barrier protection and improved durability in a lighter-weight fabric. This performance characteristic allows Tyvek® 400 SFR garments to be worn over primary flame-resistant garments when both hazardous particles and flash fire hazards are present. Furthermore, Tyvek® 400 SFR is a more sustainable solution and is recyclable through the Tyvek® protective apparel recycling program, provided it is not contaminated with hazardous materials. Applications for these garments include oil and gas, general manufacturing and operations, maintenance, dirty jobs, environmental services, and utilities. Key features include a relaxed fit coverall design with a diamond gusset crotch to facilitate unrestricted movement and an optimal fit when wearing primary flame-resistant protective clothing underneath, along with red trim elements, red external stitched seams, and a red zipper.
