The sump alarm counterweight is designed to attach to the float switch cable using the included button head cable tie. It is not intended to submerge the float switch but rather to orient it as the water level rises or falls. The counterweight requires only 3 to 5 inches of space between the float switch and the pump and weighs 6 ounces.
