The wire cutter pliers feature hardened cutting knives with two opposing blades that meet in the center and are insulated handles rated for electrical work to protect against electrical shock up to 1000 V AC and 1500 V DC; each handle is individually tested and VDE certified in accordance with IEC 60900. The jaws include six work zones: a wire cutter, flat tips, hex-grip teeth, coarse teeth, fine teeth, and a wire-holding groove behind the tips for firmly gripping and bending wires without marring. The hex grip teeth are uniquely designed to positively engage small- to medium-sized hex fasteners, similar to a 12-point box-end wrench. The flared handles provide a positive stop to prevent the hand from slipping toward the conductive head of the pliers. The pliers body is made from drop-forged steel that is oil-hardened to 43 - 45 HRC and enamel-coated, while the cutting knives are induction-hardened to 55 - 59 HRC. The yellow handle core is composed of hard polypropylene and the red handle overmold is made from a soft, grippy thermoplastic elastomer (TPE).
