It incorporates a small gap spacing of 1 mm by 0.5 mm, which holds wire ends by allowing the jaw faces to remain nearly parallel while holding multiple wires flat and in position during twisting. The crosscut pattern on the jaws provides grip evenly in all directions, unlike straight serrations where grip strength varies according to tooth direction. A range of tooth types is available, with smaller pliers having fine teeth for precision applications and less marring, and larger pliers with more aggressive teeth delivering a stronger grip on less delicate parts. The crosscut teeth are oriented at 120 degrees to each other, created through two passes to form regularly spaced, diamond-shaped teeth. High-leverage lower jaws positioned below the pivot and closer to the fulcrum exert approximately 30% more force than the main jaws, enabling crushing functions like closing wire clamps and crimping connectors.
