Tolerance control is managed through two measurements—point-to-point and side-to-side—to ensure the highest standards of dimensional accuracy and consistency. The keys have refined edges with slightly chamfered edges except for the smallest sizes (1.3 mm, 1.5 mm, 2 mm, 0.050 in., 1/16 in., and 5/64 in.) and a smooth top face to optimize engagement with fasteners. Constructed from 8660 nickel chromium molybdenum steel, the L-keys are heat-treated to HRC 54-58, producing tools that are hard but not brittle; their maximum torque strength consistently exceeds ASME standards for minimum torsion load and ISO standards for minimum proof torque. All keys are coated with a durable manganese phosphate finish that is corrosion-resistant; finish quality is tested by removing oil with isopropyl alcohol, submerging the keys in a 1% saltwater solution for 45 hours, then rinsing and air drying. Except for the smallest sizes, L-key sizes are marked with both high-visibility laser markings and stamped markings. The holder is designed for quick access by organizing L-keys facing forward, allowing easy access without removing other tools, and also offers a low-profile organization option by facing the keys to the side. Self-aligning key slots are uniquely shaped to guide the head of each L-key into alignment with the others, and the holder material is durable to provide a firm, flexible grip.
