The Tempco finned strip heater is engineered for both forced and natural convection air heating, making it suitable for installation in duct systems or at the bottom of cabinet-type ovens. Its fundamental design features a helically wound resistance coil housed within a specially designed ceramic insulator, with the coil mechanically connected to screw terminals for a secure connection. The heater assembly is encased in stainless steel rectangular tubing, ensuring durability, while all remaining voids are filled with high purity magnesium oxide to enhance thermal conductivity and dielectric strength. Additionally, nickel plated steel fins are attached to the rectangular tubing, specifically designed to maximize surface contact for improved heat dissipation into the finned cross sections, facilitating rapid heat transfer to the air.
