The 8x2 1/4 Phillips modified truss head self-drilling screw features a full thread and is made with a zinc bake finish. These self-drilling screws are designed with a point that cuts through the material, eliminating the need for a pilot hole. Although truss head screws are weaker than pan or round heads, they are preferred in applications where minimal clearance exists above the head. The modified truss head offers low clearance and an extra-large bearing surface, making these screws commonly used for attaching metal lathe to metal studs.
