The 8X2 Phillips modified truss head self-drilling screw features a full thread design with a zinc bake finish. These self-drilling screws have a point specifically engineered to cut through materials, thereby eliminating the need for pilot hole drilling. Although truss head screws are weaker than their pan or round head counterparts, they are preferred in applications where minimal clearance exists above the head. The modified truss head design provides low clearance and an extra-large bearing surface, making them commonly used for attaching metal lathe to metal studs.
