The kit includes a type 309, soft annealed, stainless steel tool wrap designed to protect parts from scale and oxide buildup during heat treating in atmospheric furnaces, while also eliminating decarburization buildup. It is resistant to chromium carbide precipitation during exposure to high temperatures and can be utilized in furnaces operating up to 2240 degrees F. This cut-to-fit foil creates an airtight envelope around the parts and can be easily cut, folded, and crease-sealed without tearing in normal use. The tool wrap effectively provides the benefits of a vacuum furnace at a lower cost, and is packaged in a convenient, reclosable carton.
