The kit is constructed with heat shrink insulation that is adhesive lined to waterproof and environmentally seal electrical connections when crimped and heated. It insulates and protects connections from wire pullout, moisture intrusion, and abrasion. The heat-activated adhesive melts and flows to create a seal, while the construction resists salt water, oil, gasoline, and other environmental contaminants. The kit is rated at a maximum of 600 volts, with a temperature rating of 221 °F (105 °C).
