The connectors are housed in a tough, thermoplastic shell that protects against environmental extremes and resists chemical action from hydrocarbons, diluted acids, and alkaline solutions. Additionally, the connectors possess flame-retardant properties that can withstand heat distortion up to 105 °C (221 °F). The high-dielectric shell features a deep skirt design to prevent exposure of bare wire, and it is designed for copper-to-copper connections only.
