The 31A from Powermatic is engineered for demanding tasks, featuring a durable full cast iron construction that allows for both metal and woodworking applications on the same machine. It is equipped with an integral dual dust port that keeps both the belt and disc portions clean, thereby extending the life of abrasives. The articulating table, mounted on the 6 x 48" belt sander head, can be adjusted for vertical, horizontal, or angled use to adapt to various jobs. The belt head includes an indexing pin with stops at 0°, 45°, and 90°, while a head lock allows for use at any angle in between. The design facilitates contour sanding when the top guard is removed, and the cast iron tables feature miter gauge slots and positive stops, ensuring quick, accurate, and simple set-up for any angle. Key specifications include a multi-position belt head that locks at any angle from 0° to 90°, precision ground cast iron tables with miter slots, a belt table that tilts down to 45° for beveled and mitered angle sanding, a full cast iron platen with solid crowned aluminum drums for smooth belt movement and support, and a 12" disc that is balanced for flat and even coverage.
