Severe duty motors are available from 1 HP to 700 HP and are specifically designed for applications requiring protection from severe environmental operating conditions. Typical applications include petro-chemical plants, mines, foundries, pulp and paper plants, waste management facilities, rock crushers, and chemical plants. Key features of these motors include a 1.15 service factor, a corrosion resistant epoxy finish, regreasable ball bearings, an oversized rotatable cast iron conduit box, a Forsheda® shaft seal, moisture resistant copper windings, Class F insulation, a stainless steel nameplate, and corrosion resistant hardware. The motors are also tropicalized, making them suitable for tropical climates and other processing industry applications that demand resilience against corrosion.
